(Ljubljana, December 2020) This December is not like the Decembers we are used to. And even though there are no public gatherings or mass socializing, alcohol unfortunately remains a mainstay of this time of year. Alcohol strongly affects critical judgement in traffic and is a significant risk factor in traffic accidents. In order to make the festive days pleasant for the people despite the current situation, and to make sure no family is draped in black because of irresponsible road users, people who act as first responders on the scene of traffic accidents and immediately thereafter – medics, doctors, police officers and firefighters – have personal messages for the public.
The Slovenian Traffic Safety Agency and its partners present a new online awareness raising campaign to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and other psychoactive substances.
Doctors and medics from the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, University Medical Centre Maribor, the Centre for Emergency Medical Assistance and Medical Transport at the Maribor Community Health Centre, the National Institute of Public Health, the Police and the Zavod Reševalni Pas urge the Slovenian public in short, personal messages to have zero tolerance to alcohol in traffic.
It will take you less than two minutes to be touched by all of their profound messages. These messages are presented in the framework of a national awareness raising campaign to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs and other psychoactive substances, which is under way throughout December.
