Council is a member of an international organization for road safety La Prévention Routière Internationale (PRI). Since 2000, Slovenia has been a leading member of the Central European countries and therefore a member in the Executive Committee of PRI.
Council cooperates very well with many different foreign institutions and institutes.
The Council is also involved in several international researches and projects which, together with other countries, contribute to traffic safety. The Council is the developer of the international project VAMOS, it participates in international projects DRUID, EUCHIRES, SUPREME, Sartre and RoadSafetyWeb.
Since 2004 the Council for prevention and road safety of the Republic of Slovenia has been a full member of the Forum of European research institutes in the field of road safety FERSI (FORUM OF EUROPEAN ROAD SAFETY RESEARCH INSTITUTES).
The fundamental purpose of the organization FERSI is the preparation of joint research projects, promoting exchanges of research results, best practices and research skills, cooperation between different organizations and, ultimately, providing technical assistance for the European Union to develop appropriate measures in the field of road safety. Forum FERSI consists of research institutes from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain and now Slovenia. Inclusion of Council into FERSI allows us an easier access to research results and the opportunity to participate in projects which are being prepared.
Implementation of road safety measures and effective preventive and educational work is based on sound knowledge of road transport development, analysis and research. This kind of work is required by the European action plan for road safety and 6th EU research framework programme, which emphasizes the participation of experts and researchers from different countries.
